Lady Gaga took center stage for the opening act in MTV VMA 2011 Sunday night. Lady Gaga dressed up like Jo Calderone and stunned everyone at Nokia Theater with her rendition of You and I and was joined by Brian May from Queen.

MTV will once again handing out an awards to the top music videos of the past year in their 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. This year, Lady Gaga and Beyonce topped the fields as they earned nine nominations each including the Best Video of the Year. Other nominees for the Best Video of the Year are Britney Spears’ “Womanizer”, Eminem’s “We Made You” and Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown”

The nominees will also vie for other categories such as best male, female, rock and hip hop video. See other nominees HERE.

Watch MTV VMA 2009 live in the Big Apple on Sunday, September 19 that will start at 9PM. It will be hosted by last year's host British comedian Russell Brand with a special appearances by Green Day, Pink, Taylor Swift, Brit rockers Muse, and other more performers. Also rumored that Janet Jackson will give a tribute to the King of Pop - Michael Jackson.
