Why Google homepage logo is a Barcode? | Google's homepage new logo

Google has new homepage logo. Few weeks ago most of us were puzzled why Google logo have two L's and then we just learned that Google is celebrating its 11th birthday and the two L's looks like no. 11 in the logo. Now here's another logo of the Google that leaves me a question mark, I just saw it a few minutes ago - Google's new logo is a Barcode. So why Google homepage new logo is a barcode? It's because today is the 57th anniversary of the first patent on the barcode.  Barcode was invented by Norman Woodland and Bernard Silver and filed the patent on October 1949. The barcode on the Google homepage is Code 128 encoded, which is a standard way of encoding ASCII character strings (ie. A-Z, a-z, 0-9, etc.) into a barcode.
