Pope Benedict XVI underwent a successful wrist surgery Friday. The Pope broke his right wrist in a fall in his chalet while vacationing in the Italian Alps.
To reduce the fracture on the wrist, the Pope underwent a procedure to realign bone fragments. The surgeons performed the operation under local anesthesia and went well.
According to the statement released by the Vatican pope Benedict XVI fell in his room in a nearby chalet overnight and despite the accident, celebrated Mass and had breakfast before going to the hospital.
Despite the accident, pope Benedict XVI expected to stick to his schedule including the traditional Angelus prayer on Sunday.
